What is Feng Shui?
Pronounced " fung shway", literally translated, feng shui is wind (feng) and water (shui). Qi (engery) is contained by water and dispersed by wind. The ancient Chinese used these ideas to locate their villages and cities. Today, we use these same principles to study how Qi flows through an area and how we can best use those energies. Through the concentrated study of interactions between yin (quiet) and yang (active) energies and spaces as well as the study of the 5 qualities of Qi within a place, a feng shui consultant can ascertain possibilities the occupants may experience. The goal of the practice is to bring these forces into balance to create a happier, healthier, more harmonious life.
Is Feng Shui right for me?
Are you interested in making the most of the natural energies of your house or business? Do you experience problems that seem to have no cause or solution? Do you have concerns or desires regarding health, wealth and/or relationships? Do you want more harmony in your life? If you answer yes to any of these questions, Feng Shui may be an answer for you.
What will happen during the audit?
I will come to the site with a lopan (Chinese compass). Once there, I will take directional readings of the building(s) being audited. I will look at the surrounding area and gather information about the building. I will also look inside and possibly ask questions regarding past events or problems and generally what you wish go get out of the audit. (Depending on time available, the questions and concerns can be addressed in email prior to or just after my visit to the site.) You will have the option of having the audit done on-site or you may have me bring the information back and do the work and report that I will later deliver to you via the method of your choosing (email, snail mail or delivery).
What do you need from the client to perform the audit?
I will need:
· The date the building was built.
· A history of any major changes to the building.
· A floor plan drawn to scale that includes all windows, doors and openings.
· Birthdates of all occupants (for building and room compatibility)
Can Feng Shui make me wealthy?
Feng Shui can address health, wealth and relationships. Wealth is not the most important aspect in a person's life but, it is understood that it can help alleviate stress; a major cause of illness and dis-ease. Feng Shui cannot make a person wealthy if it is not their destiny, but, it can address the issue and many times the use of rooms, pathways, windows can assist in increasing wealth. The proper use of the energies can help bring opportunities and can also boost the occupants' health and ambition so they can more easily work for their wealth.
If my friend has an audit done, can I just follow the same recommendations and have good results?
No, sorry. Each house is its own case. A chart of the energetic patterns is based on the direction the building faces and the year it was built. Even two houses with the exact same facing and build date can have different Feng Shui needs based on the floor plan, use of areas, outside forms and even could be different based on career, interests and activities of the occupants.
What if I don't want my house to look like a Chinese restaurant? If flutes, bagua mirrors, money toads, etc, don't fit into the décor?
The first rule of Feng Shui is: it must be beautiful. If you don't like it, it won't be good Feng Shui. But, in reality, a place can be audited and all suggestions followed and, other than it feeling good and comfortable, no one would ever have to know it was decorated or the rooms used based on Feng Shui principles. If you enter a home and it feels inviting and comfortable, it enjoys good Feng Shui. The Feng Shui objects commonly found on the internet or in popular Feng Shui books have little to do with the original, authentic (traditional Chinese) practice.
Does each home have a wealth corner or career corner and relationship corner?
Each home will have specific areas that can be used for specific aspects. These are not based on a set template as seen in some popular books. They are based on the areas certain energies travel as determined by the build date and facing of the building. House compatibility (based on occupant birth dates) and occupation are also used to determine the areas that will benefit career. A detailed analysis of a person's natal chart (4 Pillars of Destiny) can also indicate better options for careers and activities to be involved with.
Does the house chart ever change?
While the natal chart of the house does not change unless there are major renovations or additions, or a drastic change in use and/or surroundings, there are yearly and monthly influences that sometimes need to be addressed. These do not constitute a change in the chart; they are merely additional influences.
Can you predict problems using Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is not a predictive tool. Rather, it can be a preventive tool. If you know there are combinations of energies that may cause certain problems, steps can be taken to harmonize the energies and protect against certain possibilities. Knowing the chart of a house is very helpful when problems seem to be chronic or those times when changes occur seemingly "out of the blue."
